Algogenerator (2009) is an interface for making electroacoustic music on a deadline. It enables the user to record just 10 seconds of audio or select any audio file and then simply decide how long the piece should be. Other parameters can be manipulated by the user, such as the formal structure, number of sections, amount of overlap between sections, and the number of effects to be randomly generated. Effects can also be chosen individually from a list of 10 different options, each of which has 6 sub-effects for a total of 60 effects. This interface (Mac only) was developed using Max/MSP and can be run using Max/MSP Runtime, available as freeware at the Cycling 74 website. Thank you to John Gibson for creating the jg.specteq~ and jg.granulate~ objects, and to Juhana Sadeharju for the gigaverb~ object.
