Quintet (2007) was written with the specific goal of creating melodies not only from pitch material, but from a succession of timbral colors.  Tension is created through the use of slow moving glissandos and microtones in tight clusters.  This technique results in dense harmonies, the resolution of which propels the piece forward.  Intervallic growth contributes to the form, beginning with displaced minor seconds and expanding to quartal harmonies before returning to seconds, this time with undulating unisons in the same octave.
